A Nafuda Kake, literally, name rack, is a traditional way Japanese dojos display their students organized by rank. Nafuda Kake were not only used by martial arts dojos, but have been adapted for use in other Japanese organizations as well. If you think about it, in the United States, we often use name boards in schools and in our organizations as well. Here at Simba Dojo we are preparing to use a digital Nafuda Kake which we will maintain on our website. Our original plan of building a traditional one out of wood or bamboo just did not seem practical since we travel from different locations to practice our karate. So please check back and see if you can find your name on our Nafuda Kake!
